COMMUNITY House Programs

We always have multiple ongoing programs at the community house!

All programs provided through Morrison Gardens Community House require pre-registration. To learn more about what is offered, please contact the Community House directly at 613-596-6229. 

Youth Programs

Kidz Club (6-11 years of age)


 Homework help, fun learning activities, physical recreation, social time and snack preparation and computers with printers will be available with supportive staff and volunteers so that children gain confidence and achieve their goals.

(KYC) Youth Council


 Are you a youth who wants to put ideas into action? Receive workshops, go on field trips, hear from special guests and achieve your goals! All this while you learn about volunteering in your neighborhood.

(KYC) Youth drop-in


Get to know other young people from the neighborhood. Computers with printers are available, Xbox, snacks, and learn about opportunities of interest to youth.  

(Keeping Youth Connected) Basketball


 The Friday Night Basketball program is designed for youth ages 11 to 16. The program emphasizes the importance of teamwork, collaboration, respect, discipline, and hard work which are all important aspects inside and outside of the gymnasium. Through intense workout and training regimes youth are given the opportunity to enhance their Basketball IQ and perform at an optimal level. Youth are expected to sign a contract before beginning the training outlining the importance of respecting the gymnasium, peers, and staff. If you are looking to complete volunteer hours you are welcome to contribute to the program. 

United Sisters


A girls' only program for 10 - 15 years old.

 Make new friends and do fun activities at the community house as well as join the group for fun trips to local destinations! 

Reading Buddies (tutoring by appointment)



Children who’ve been registered for this program will receive support with reading and writing skills.  Computer time and snacks will round out the evenings activities.   

Adult Programs



From beginners to experts; If you like to sew or want to learn then this is the program for you. Sewing machines and materials are provided. Volunteers are usually on hand to help. 

Market Mobile


Fresh and affordable vegetables and fruits are available at this trailer that visits sites across Ottawa weekly. Come and see what's on offer. 

MLC Computer Access


 Use computers with internet access and print things using one of the printers available in the community house. 

Food Bank


 We are a Food Bank Ottawa location. Check on the Food Bank website if Morrison Gardens Community House is in your catchment area. 

Coffee Time


Join other neighbors and your community workers Erin and/or Ubah  for chat in portable over a hot cup of coffee. Learn about Tenant circle projects and community services and programs.



Family coordinator, Amal, is at the Community House and available to help parents to find recreation opportunities for children. Subsidies, help with finding equipment, and assistance with registration are some of the services available.
